Mission Statement
To educate, equip, and empower individuals—especially underrepresented communities—through firearm safety, responsible ownership, and cultural awareness.
We envision a future where families feel safe, youth are empowered with knowledge, and communities are united through education, discipline, and cultural pride. We aim to change the narrative by promoting accountability, healing, and heritage.
“Sankofa” is a word from the Akan people of Ghana. It means:
“Go back and get it.”
It’s often symbolized by a bird looking backward—reaching into the past to retrieve what’s valuable for the future.
For us, Sankofa means honoring the lessons of our history, reclaiming our power, and protecting our community through knowledge, training, and unity.
At Sankofa Firearms Club, we believe that looking back gives us the strength to move forward—safely and responsibly.
Our Vision for the Community
At Sankofa Firearms Club, we believe in building a future where education replaces fear, and responsibility replaces recklessness.
We aim to change the narrative around firearms by creating a culture of accountability, safety, and empowerment—especially in communities historically impacted by gun violence and misinformation.
Our hope is to see a community where:
Families feel safe and informed
Youth grow up with respect for life and responsibility
Firearms are seen not as tools of harm, but as tools of protection, skill, and discipline
Black and Brown voices are represented in the gun safety space
Healing, history, and heritage guide our actions
We are planting seeds of knowledge and confidence—so that generations after us will be better protected, better prepared, and more unified.
